I consulted with all my neighbors and planned who would turn all the lights in their respective apartments on or off in order to draw a heart on the facade.
I’ve since moved, but at the time of the exhibition and the creation of this work, I lived on Karl-Liebknecht-Straße and was very concerned with the topic of neighborhood.
In a street and environment that is hardly designed to human standards, the feeling of closeness is lost very quickly.
This work aims to reappropriate a symbol that can be considered very cute, snug, or kitschy and reclaim its true meaning
as a symbol of togetherness and neighborliness, literally.
